2024 Conference of the International Network for Doping Research (INDR)
The International Network for Doping Research (INDR) will host its 2024 conference on 15 and 16 August 2024 at the Department of Public Health at Aarhus University, Denmark.
INDR shares and encourages research on doping, human enhancement, and anti-doping in their broadest cultural, social, and political dimensions. The conference aims to enable open discussions on interdisciplinary anti-doping research to inform sport organizations and political bodies about the latest research in the field.
The 2024 INDR Conference will run under the theme: “Pushing Boundaries in Enhancement” and follows up on the discussions at the last INDR conference on future pathways for anti-doping. We are particularly interested in submissions around past, present, and future considerations of drug use and enhancement in a sporting context that open new perspectives in research, for example on ethical issues, new competition formats, or challenges for athletes.
Our two confirmed keynote speakers will address the conference theme from very different angles: Ines Geipel, author and professor at the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts, will discuss her book Schöner Neuer Himmel. Aus dem Militärlabor des Ostens (Beautiful New Sky. From the Military Laboratory of the East). The book will be published in English in early 2024. Geipel was a victim of the East German doping regime and has published widely on doping history. Aron D’Souza, Ph.D., is the President of the Enhanced Games (www.enhanced.org), a future sport event organized as an alternative to the Olympic Games that actively encourages performance enhancements. His aim is to include performance enhancement in sporting competitions to create positive effects on the results of training and exercise routines.
As in past years, the registration fee includes the book of abstracts, the conference dinner on Friday, two lunches, and coffee. We have an early bird rate that is valid until 31 March 2024.
If you are planning to present at the conference, you are invited to submit an abstract via email to krieger@ph.au.dk. The abstract should be no longer than 400 words. The deadline for abstract submission is 31 May 2024.
Questions regarding the conference or abstract submission should be directed to Jörg Krieger (krieger@ph.au.dk) or April Henning (a.henning@hw.ac.uk).
