Ali Jawad is a Paralympic Powerlifter who has competed for ParalympicsGB at three Paralympic Games. He is a Paralympic, World, European and Commonwealth Games medalist. He is a member of the UKAD athlete commission, the ParalympicsGB athlete commission as well as an athlete board member on the Team England board, and a start up member of global athlete.
In this interview, Ali discusses the lack of athlete representation in WADA; disproportionate sanctions; the response to the Russia scandal; challenges and implications of the WADA Code for young athletes, non-elites, and parents; athlete-focused reforms to the appeals process for those facing sanctions; and the controversy over anti-doping testing during Covid-19.
