Physical activity epidemiology

It is a challenge for society that more and more Danes become increasingly inactive. In this research group, we study factors that ensure adherence to physical activity in different populations. We do this through two different, but complementary, research projects: RUNSAFE and MOVE.

Research areas

In RUNSAFE, we specifically investigate causes underpinning sports injury development (namely those caused by recreational running) with the intention to use these findings to assist sports injury prevention and -treatment. If people take up physical activity in a safely manner, they are able to harvest the benefits of a physical active lifestyle.

In MOVE, we study how more Danes, that are physically inactive, can become increasingly physically active through social prescribing allowing general practitioners to refer them to interventions that are locally anchored and amongst peers.
