Welcome to our new postdoc, Kristine Deroover

Welcome to Kristine Deroover, who has recently joined REACH as a postdoc researcher focusing on Community Health Literacy.

We are delighted to welcome Kristine Deroover to our research centre, where she will be working as a postdoc researcher over the next two years.

Kristine will contribute to our research on Community Health Literacy, which focuses on how communities and the environments in which people live and interact can support health and create better opportunities for people to apply health knowledge in their everyday lives. A central part of her work will be to advance the theoretical understanding of Community Health Literacy, including the development of a definition and a conceptual model of the concept.

Kristine is from Belgium and holds an MSc in Rehabilitation Sciences from KU Leuven and an MSc in Health Education and Promotion from Maastricht University. Most recently, she completed her PhD at the University of Technology Sydney, Australia.

In her PhD research, Kristine examined how people navigate and integrate conflicting health information. Her work contributed to a better understanding of how people's beliefs about knowledge influence the way they interpret and respond to complex health messages.

With her interdisciplinary and international background, Kristine brings valuable perspectives to our research centre, and we look forward to following her work in the years ahead.
