Sport and Body Culture

The Research Unit for Sport and Body Culture works within a humanities and social sciences framework. We focus on the study of sports and body culture based on historical, pedagogical, philosophical, psychological and sociological theories and methods. Our research falls within the following research areas:

  • Doping in elite sport
  • Drug use in recreational sport
  • The history of sports policy and politics
  • Current issues in sport politics
  • Talent development
  • Mental health in sport
  • Sociology of sport
  • Sociology of the body
  • Sport ethics and philosophy

In addition, we are responsible for and teach on the Bachelor’s and Master’s programmes in Sports Science.

The research unit has an international focus and currently hosts and manages the International Network for Doping Research, INDR.
